Test Council was set up in 2026 for a simple reason: buyers were being asked to choose between reviews that contradicted each other. A council of specialists, each checking another's work against the same evidence, produces scores that are harder to bend.

Helen spent fourteen years buying small appliances for a British department store group, where her job was to read test reports and return rates before anything reached the shelf. She chairs the Council, sets the scoring standard and signs off every floorcare comparison.

Why a council
One reviewer can have a bad week, a favourite brand or a narrow home. Every Test Council comparison is written by one member and challenged by another before it is published. Disagreements are settled by the evidence, and where evidence is thin we say so on the page.
